Simple about:

Linux Syadmin/Devops, Hamradio Operator (ON1GPS), NOT a graphics designer (clearly when you see this site)

Stuff I do

Minecraft Related

Playing Minecraft since November/December 2011 (forgot exact date)
Joined Respawn network July 2014 as sysadmin to help the launch of the network on launch day.
Ever since became main sysadmin for Xisumavoid, and later on main sysadmin for Hermitcraft.
Joined Oreville Studios December 2023 as sysadmin/devops

YOTA

YOTA (Youngsters On The Air): This is an initiative within the amateur radio community, particularly in IARU Region 1, aimed at engaging young people in ham radio.
YOTA organizes various activities like summer camps, sub-regional camps, and special events to promote amateur radio among the youth
I've been part of this since it's first summer camp in 2013, running their site and other infra stuff, as well as maintaining the DYM (December YOTA Month) site.

Some past stuff

ASLpage

ASLpage was a Belgian online community with over 150 000 members.
Joined pretty early on somewhere 2003/2004 (forgot exactly when) as full stack developer.
Kim Gosselin was the founder and did the first version of the website, after I joined, I helped out to handle the influx of new users.
I became the main developer for the backend, while Kim Handled the frontend design, and managed the community.
At some point we ran out own AS with our own servers, cause that was 10x cheaper than any hosting out there at that point in time.
After Kim got diagnosed with Cancer, a lot of his responsabilities came onto me, and our business partner.
After the passing of Kim in 2010, and the big take-off from facebook, and our failure to find investors and being overworked, I decided to leave.

Maes Electronics

Maes Electronics was our family's Telecommunications shop where we sold radio equipment for professional and hobby use (walkie-talkies, cb, etc. and all things related to it).
From early on as a kid I frequenly helped out in the shop, as well do all the IT stuff for the company.
There was a 2nd company, M.A.E.S. which sold cellphones since the early 90's, which was in the same building, and was pretty big, until my parents sold it in 2005.
After I left ASLpage, I went full time here, and help my parents running the business.
During covid, I burned out, in 2022 my mom passed away due to Cancer, she did 80% of all administrative work.
After all of this, the decision was made to stop the shop.
Now I exclusively do IT consulting with this company, which is more in my lane.

Telenet

Worked for Telenet (isp) during some years of the ASLpage days, in "e-services and portal", basically maintaining some of their websites, and some interesting early streaming projects

Grid VFX

In 2016 I joined Grid VFX, which was a Belgian VFX/Animation studio as part of their IT team as a part-time consultant after a friend begged me to join and help out.
Helped setting up infrastucture for new studio locations, did a load of work to keep things stable and grow, until I had less time for them late 2018.

Other things

Catacomb Snatch

Catacomb Snatch is a 2D top-down shooter and real-time strategy (RTS) game developed by Mojang. Created during the Humble Bundle Mojam charity event in 2012.
After the release of the source, I found a bunch of patches by people on the minecraft forums, and started collecting them on my github
This went way out of hand, and got a total of 70 contributers working on this for a couple of months, making the game at lot more advanced, until people's interest died down.
